PFXTour.com

pfxtour.com
Volunteered to create this website for the Professional Fastpitch Extreme Tour organization. Used Java Servlets and jsp pages that communicated with a MySQL database. Site is running on Apache TomCat.
  • Teams can register for a tournament.
  • Once a team is registered they are redirected to a paypal page where they can complete their team's registration payment for either a deposit or full amount, whichever they specified at registration time.
  • An email confirmation is sent to the Coach of the team using the Java Mail API
  • The email contains a team identification number that allows coaches and players to create accounts with pfxtour.com.
  • Once an account is created players can update their personal information and coaches can pay the remainder of their balance, update their team roster, etc.
  • If the user that is logged in is an administrator they have the ability to view all of the teams that are signed up as well as add new News articles, Clips, and Tour Stops. This allows the PFXTour officials more control over what is viewed on the website without having to call up a webdeveloper and ask them to make changes.

Create Your Own Wedding Website

Create Your Own Wedding Website
This website was created as a means to provide information to individuals on how to make their own wedding website. It has everything an individual would need to know to make a website from scratch using only notepad. The goal behind this website was to get familiar with Google AdSense and Yahoo Online Advertising but I was rejected by both companies... ouch! I was most likely rejected due to lack of traffic. It was fun either way. :)

Seacat Game

Seacat Game
Macromedia Director game I created for Carnegie Mellon course: 76-383.

Ever since Kindergarten there has been a quizzical question flung at me… “What is a Seacat?” Well, what better way to provide such an answer than to produce an interactive game that answers that very question while adding an element of excitement, flare, and pleasure for its audience. Computer based distractions are a norm in the everyday life of a Carnegie Mellon student. This game will allow its users to pass those boring hours of the day while avoiding the temptations of online games that completely consume the users’ academic and social lives.

As the game begins, the user becomes a Sea Cat named Litter Box and begins his quest to conquer the sea. Like any regular house cat, a sea cat is all about growing and maintaining its territory in an attempt to be the biggest and most powerful animal of its domain. Therefore, as the game progresses, it is up to Litter Box to devour the tuna fish that are smaller than him and avoid those that are bigger than he is, in the ever present struggle for growth and survival.

It is the goal of this project, aside from creating a fun, enjoyable game for the student community, to develop a game that is largely simpler from most of the computer games on the market. From my research and my knowledge of on campus lifestyles, most students rarely have free time during the week, generally being consumed by their never ending classes. Hopefully Sea Cat will provide a diversion that a student can start at a moments notice, providing a nice break from the tediousness of class work.

In an effort to maintain the idea of project simplicity, allowing students to play Sea Cat whenever the mood should strike them, the project will employ a simple control scheme. The user will be able to control the direction Litter Box will swim in by pressing the arrow keys on their keyboard. This will allow Litter Box to swim away from larger tuna fish and swim after the smaller ones. In this way, users will be able to control Litter Box’s struggle for growth and survival. By pressing the ‘p’ on the keyboard, the game will be paused until ’p’ is pressed a second time. Finally, to add to the fun user experience, there will be sound effects coinciding with game events, and background music will loop throughout the game. However, to afford the user maximum flexibility, both can be turned off by pressing a little, unobtrusive sound button on the bottom left hand corner of the screen.

When Litter Box has become the king of the Ocean and is by far the biggest mammal of the sea, the game will end, and he will be crowned. However, if he becomes too greedy and tries to eat a tuna fish that is bigger than he is, or he can’t avoid a larger tuna fish quickly enough, he will lose his struggle for survival and float to the top of the ocean and die. It is up to the user to truly define what a Sea Cat is, in all its glory, by crowning Litter Box king of the sea!
